First Concord Debit Card
It is a debit card designed to allow you to pay for eligible expenses from your account.
The HSA Debit Card is used in conjunction with benefit plans provided for you by your employer. These plans allow you to set aside a certain amount of your paycheck into an account before paying income taxes. Then during the year you can use the funds in your account to pay for qualified expenses with the untaxed dollars. You will not be taxed on the dollars you use in your HSA Account.
The card can be used for the following:
Healthcare Flexible Spending Account
Health Savings Account
HSA Compatible Limited Flexible Spending Account
Health Reimbursement Arrangement
Dependent Care
Parking and Transit
The HSA Debit Card is what is known as a “smart” card. When you use it, it knows exactly which account to draw funds from, based on your employers benefit plan.
You may use your card at the doctor, pharmacy, optician and most general merchandising stores.
Most qualified expenses are for the goods and services that you will buy anyway. These include healthcare costs such as co pays, and doctors fees, prescribed over the counter drugs and medications, dental and eye care expenses and day care expenses for dependents so you may work.
The money you elect to contribute comes through regular payroll deduction. Your employer deducts it and the money goes into your account and on your card.
It depends on the benefit program you are utilizing. With an FSA the entire annual amount you elect to contribute is available on the very first day of your program and continues to be available throughout the year. However with a dependent care account, funds are only available when deposited.
Yes. Generally the card is the most convenient way to pay as it prevents you from reaching into your own pocket to pay for expenses. When you pay with your card, your purchase is deducted from the appropriate balance in your take care account or accounts.
Just like any other debit or credit card, you will need to report the lost/stolen card immediately to First Concord Benefits Group and a new card will be issued.
